Ja Morant is currently under his second suspension this year, all due to flashing guns in public during a live Instagram. Following his second suspension, fans and fellow celebrities have slammed the NBA star, with some even calling for NBA to ban him.
So when Ja Morant took to social media to post a series of cryptic posts, including a farewell message such as “bye”, social media was quick to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a welfare check on Ja.
Authorities did so and reassured the public that Ja is doing alright. He better be fine; we just want him to focus on his career; no one wants him to do anything stupid.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant sparked concern with a series of social media posts on Wednesday (May 24) that led to police doing a welfare check.
There were four posts in total, which read, “Love ya ma [blue heart emoji],” “Love ya pops [blue heart emoji],” and “You da greatest baby girl [blue heart emoji] love ya.” The last post read, “Bye,” which made many people question the meaning behind the farewell.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee confirmed that a welfare check was made on Morant after the posts turned heads, and they stated that the famed athlete is “fine.” Morant has since deleted the posts.
This comes after Morant was suspended from all team activities after he was featured on his friend Davonte Pack’s Instagram Live holding a gun on May 13. This is the second wave of controversy for Morant involving a gun this year, as he was suspended for eight games and entered a counseling program in March after he flashed a gun on his Instagram Live while in a Colorado strip club.
As much as fans condemn Ja‘s recent silly actions, they do love him and wouldn’t want him to harm himself. I hope he sees the backlash as a sign of tough love and not a means to harm himself.
