Before music and fame, T.I. just like most black folks was an armed robber. The rapper says he used to steal clothes from shops to sell with his late cousin Toot.
T.I. and his cousin were caught one fateful day. Toot died during the incident and cops found a gun in his possession. The rapper said, his lawyer asked that he lie/snitch on his late cousin to avoid going to jail his cousin so he did.
Luckily for him, he turned his life around. T.I. said he contacted his dead brother before taking the deal and he completely agreed to the snitching.
A resurfaced clip from an August 2020 episode of T.I.’s ‘expediTIously’ podcast found the Atlanta rapper speaking about a gun case that he pinned on his cousin Toot in the early 2000s, ahead of his music career taking off.
The rapper explained the scenario, saying he and Toot were running a hustle involving stolen clothes when police pulled him and Toot over. Police reportedly discovered a gun in possession of T.I.
“We at Lennox Mall parking lot, we unload the truck [of stolen clothes], I’m talking to the man while I’m making the play. This n***a looking at everything like, ‘Man, y’all got, y’all got?!’ ‘Muthaf**ka, we done said what you want! Get this s**t and go!” said the rapper. He continued, “And right then, mall security [pull up] … We get in the car and we pull off, and then of course, they followed behind us and called the real police. So before we actually get on the expressway, the real police pull us over. I have a gun.”
T.I. then revealed his cousin Toot was murdered during the court case, saying, “We caught those gun cases, Toot died. My lawyer said, ‘Well, you know, I could make everything go away if it was Toot’s, it was Tremel’s.’” The rapper said, “After he had passed, I had a talk with him. Toot said, ‘I’ll take all the charges you got! If you can walk away free and put it on me, goddamn right! ‘Cause I’ll be damned if they gon’ come and muthaf**king extradite me from here!’” The rapper noted that’s the only time he “ever said or gave information,” noting it was “because that’s my big cousin. He was dead and told me that it was OK.”
So is this snitching or a straight-up lie?
