Sad news as a pregnant Ghanaian nurse has died of coronavirus in the United Kingdom five days after her baby was saved by an emergency C-section.
She has been identified as Mary Agyapong and according to reports, she “was taken to hospital on Tuesday last week showing signs of the killer disease and later tested positive for Covid-19”.
28-year-old Mary Agyapong “underwent an emergency caesarean to deliver and save her baby daughter at Luton and Dunstable Hospital”.
“Her newborn daughter, also named Mary, has been hailed as a “beacon of light at this very dark time”.
However, it is not known if the child also has coronavirus.
A GoFundMe page has also now been set up to help support her family – including her husband AJ and newborn daughter, named after her mum.
A message on the fundraising page described Mary as ‘loving, caring and irreplaceable’”.
May her soul rest in peace!
