Dwyane Wade‘s 15-year-old boy is finally a girl after the court legally granted his name and gender change over the weekend despite her mother Siohvaughn Funches‘s objection to holding on until Zaya is 18 years old.
Los Angeles court legally changed Zaya’s name from Zion Malachi Airamis Wade to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade and officially declared her a female.
Dwyane and his current wife, Gabrielle Union accused Funches of not being mentally capable to oppose Zaya’s gender change, and they succeeded. The social media power couple just won the battle, gaining more notoriety as the supportive parents they claimed they are.

Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya has been granted the official name and gender change she’s wanted – despite Zaya’s mother’s objections, Media Take Out confirmed.
According to new legal docs filed in L.A. County, a judge just signed off on granting a new legal identity for Dwyane’s transgender 15-year-old. Zaya was given the name Zaire at birth. Doctors determined, at the time, that he was a “male.”
But Zaya, with the help of her father Dwyane Wade and step-mother Gabrielle Union, now identifies as a female, and petitioned the court for legal recognition. Dwyane’s kid is now legally Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade and her official gender is female.
Zaya came out as trans back in 2020, when she was just 13 years old.
While Dwyane and Gabrielle are happy about Zaya’s legal change – which now makes the teenager eligible for gender reassignment surgery – and Zaya’s mother is not happy with the result.
Zaya’s mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, was against her youngest child’s gender change – at least while Zaya was still a minor. Dwyane said the change was in their child’s best interest and ripped Siohvaughn’s opposition as “nonsensical.”
