Celebrating 1 Million reach on social media has become an achievement and a new norm to Ghanaian celebrities—as if the 1 Million reach equals $1 million in their bank accounts.
Ghanaian comedian, DKB, woke up this morning, calculated his social media following on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and realised that he has reached a total of 1 million on all these platforms and thought it’s a big achievement worth celebrating with an artwork. Isn’t this disappointing?
We contacted one of our graphic designers and asked how much would an artwork such as DKB’s cost—and to our surprise, we were told that it wouldn’t cost less than Ghc500 that’s if it wasn’t a pro bono work.
So if it wasn’t free then it means DKB might’ve spent an estimated amount of Ghc500 on the artwork to celebrate a bogus achievement of reaching a total of 1 million followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The big question is, has DKB even made Ghc5 on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter combined? It’s sad how some Ghanaian celebrities keep wallowing in mediocrity without realising it.
