21 Savage Backtracks On His Claims That Nas Is Irrelevant Following Severe Social Media Backlash

Drake and 21 Savage‘s ‘Her Loss‘ album has been riding on nothing but cheap publicity stunts, from numerous, diss songs, and fake interviews to forging their images on Vogue Magazine. Fabled rapper Nas also released his album dubbed King’s Disease III/KD3 over the same period.

While in a conversation with 21 Savage on which album is doing better, he 21 claimed, he feels Nas is irrelevant but with a good fan base, to make his statement less offensive and appease Nas’ fans he also added that, Nas also makes good music. (it didn’t work!)

Well, whatever that means, social media folks did not take it lightly with him and dragged his a** and his entire career.

While the backlash is becoming overwhelming, 21 is here to do damage control, claiming although he said Nas is irrelevant he never said he is (irrelevant) and he will never say such about legends that paved the way for him. (It is damage control, the dude said it!).

What 21 meant is that Nas doesn’t engage in cheap publicity stunts like himself, Drake, and other rappers to be in the headlines every day.

Okay, so according to 21, netizens misunderstood his statement and bashed him for the wrong reasons. Well, 21 may never use Nas’ name and irrelevant in the same sentence again!

Drake and 21 Savage recently dropped their ‘Her Loss’ album, which caused much backlash among rap peers as Drake called out numerous artists. Shortly after, Nas dropped his latest album ‘King’s Disease III,’ produced entirely by Hit-Boy. Both projects have been well-received, but 21 Savage was recently heard debating the relevance of the legendary rapper.

During a conversation on Clubhouse, 21 Savage was debating contributions from Nas in a room with the title “Is Nas The Greatest Rapper or What? #KD3.” 21 gave some of his thoughts, noting that although Nas makes amazing music, he isn’t relevant. “I don’t feel like he’s relevant,” said 21 Savage. He continued: “I just feel like he got a loyal fan base. He still makes good music.”

When asked by other people in the Clubhouse room to define his meaning of “relevance,” 21 Savage said: “Mostly connected or appropriate to what’s being done to be considered.” Listen above.

21 Savage has made headlines for recently saying Nas is irrelevant while in a Clubhouse chat room. The rapper did note that he feels like Nas has a loyal fan base and makes good music. However, Nas’ brother Jungle wasn’t here for the commentary and hopped into the comments of The Shade Room to get some of his thoughts off.

In the comments of a post from the brand, Jungle said “@21savage is trash 😂 glad Nas dropped KD3 so fans can hear real bars.” Jungle then fired another shot at 21 Savage, mocking Drake’s lyrics on the album by saying, “21 can u do something for me?? 😂😂😂😂.” Take a look above.

Following the backlash from his comments about hip hop legend Nas, 21 Savage took to Twitter to clarify his remarks. According to 21, he wasn’t diminishing Nas nor his impact on the culture with his comment about his relevancy.

“I would never disrespect Nas or any legend who paved the way for me,” 21 tweeted on Monday. “Y’all be tryna take stuff and run with it.”

Trust social media users to get folks thinking straight, just look at 21 Savage calling Nas a legend as he should. Nas won the Grammy for best rap album just last year, how dare you say something close to him being irrelevant?

Here is 21 Savage’s tweet eating back his vomit:
